Running along this short track where the dark overpowers all light, where sound pierces the eardrums from the loud creek just next to the dirt. Sound is so still but so loud. Everything is heard sharply, it whispers so loudly in the ear. Diminished sight occurs, lack of light doesn't help any. The forrest is full of so much activity, yet it seems like the only thing close to you is an oak tree. Faster and faster you run, trying to get home before that last glimmer of light hits the horizon. It's getting so dark. The flashlight is back at the house, expectations of being gone this long was so unexpected. The depth of forrest that has been covered begins to come to mind as the sun goes lower and lower. Rustling in the distance, leaves move as something follows. Screaming loudly "Is that you boy?".
He was a small beagel, but fast. As he darted from the car after stopping to purchase some fruit from this small stand just four miles from the house.
The voice in your head is saying "Keep going, don't stop!" You see something moving slowly directly in front of you, but it's so dark moonlight is the only thing guiding you through the harsh dense forest. The road isn't too much further, it has to be close. He wouldn't have run off that far right? What is that? It's too big to be him!
As the animal stops and looks up at you.......sounds from behind get louder and louder. Another one comes out, and then two more on the sides. Still looking forward you see him, he's on the ground in the mouth of a wolf. Surrounded, all around you like velocaraptors. Instinct sets in and so does panic at the same time. Adrenaline pumping rapidly, heart beating fast. Running towards the road, the one in front of you doesn't move as the other three start chasing you.

Going as fast as humanly possible without producing too much room for error, the most unexpected happens.
While waking up slowly, smells of flowers and bright lights hit your face. What the hell happened to me? The nurse starts to talk as you notice there is no feeling in your legs and left arm. Fading in and out of conciousness, every other word is heard from the nurses mouth. Depth perception is awful. Filled with morphine the doctor's voice is dominant over all in the background. As he speaks to someone about what has happened.
Doctor :"Apparently she fell and was nearly eaten alive until this other animal came!"
Officer: "Well we noticed that there were smaller footprints all around, and there was blood everywhere. She is very lucky that she is alive."
As the morphine begins to wear off, you begin to regain conciousness again and some feeling in your legs and hands.
Doctor:"Ma'am how do you feel? Don't answer that I'm sure your very confused right now. After you fell a small animal came to your rescue, we aren't sure right now what it was but as soon as the authorities find out we will let you know. There has been huge lacerations to your thighs, lower legs and feet. One of them got a good grip on your left arm too. We stopped most of the bleeding but then had to amputate the left foot. I'm sorry."
Officer" "It looks like they were chomping at you for a while. At least a good 15 minutes."
What the hell happened! Oh my god, my foot is missing. Where is Rusty? Where is Rusty? Is he dead?
Another officer walks in with Rusty in his hands. He begins to relay the information to the doctor and then leaves.
Doctor:"Well we found your dog! He was the one that stopped all of those wolves. He's dieing though. One of the wolves must of had rabies and we are going to have to put him down"
Feeling of discomfort and agina begins to hit the chest. This dog means everything to me, he is all I have. Letting go is all I have left. As the heart pressure builds, letting go seems so right.

Doctor: "Clear!"
The heart monitor is steady. It's over.
Not knowing that Rusty was already dead and really had been eaten by the wolves earlier, this other animal was even the dog you thought was your best friend. It also didn't end up having anything after closer examination. This animal belongs to the folks up the road from this woman who lay upon the cold table with nothing but a sheet. The precious thought of loosing her only thing sacred caused her to have a massive heart attack.

Doctor:"Being over the age 60 causes things to happen quicker"
Officer:"She was a old bat wasn't she!"
Doctor:"Yes, she managed to kill two of those damn wolves before falling over from exhaustion."
Officer:"I'll call her kids"
Doctor:"Don't tell them what really happened, this will not be an open casket!"
Officer:"Ok, I'll be as suttle as possible"

Walking closer to the house that she was heading for Officer Camp sees that the light is on in the kitchen. Not thinking anything he steps through the door, and then hits the floor instantly.

Shotgun blast to the chest. He's gone. The man lowers the shotgun not knowning exactly what just happened.
Frank:"Oh my god I killed him. I couldn't see you damnit! Why didn't you say anything!"
Trying to dial the operator, while fumbling the phone and wiping the blood from your face you feel another presense in the room. The screen door begins to open as the slight shimmer from the moonlight hits it's eyes. The gun is so far away, helpless from being able to do anything Frank's leg begins to shred from the sharp teeth of the wolf. Rapidly two more come in and Frank meets his maker. Blood is everywhere. Two bodies lay ravaged and the aftermath is horrible. There is too much blood and the bodies are mangled.
Days go by before anyone notices that Frank hasn't opened the store. Frank's sister has been gone for over 2 weeks already and Officer Camp hasn't been back to town since he went over to Frank's to tell him about his sister's death.
Something is going on here, and the woods aren't speaking. In the distance their are many sounds we hear, in the darkness so much can happen. For the most part towns like this are so quiet, but with a backyard the size of a forest......who knows what can be lurking out their. The wolves are hungry and they usually don't feed on human flesh.....but now they're thirst for blood is stronger. After one taste, that's all they want. Constant hunger is all that is on the mind. In search for anything to feed the instinct.

Breeding more, these woods are waiting for the next prey. No one can hear your crys for help. No one can see you. No one knows your gone.
